Well here we are back in Hungary
after ten weeks in the States. Can you
believe that’s the longest Jared has been in the States since he moved here
twelve years ago? That brings with it its
own set of challenges, but he made it through fine.
So, first
of all some answered prayer requests. I
have not been able to find a job here as of yet so the answer is no for now,
but I will continue looking for opportunities.
Our summer
in California was very productive. As my
normal unit at the hospital did not need any extra hands, I was given the
opportunity to work in the Emergency Department. It was a little unfamiliar and uncomfortable
at first, but after a few weeks I felt better, and by the end I was really
enjoying it. I was able to refresh some
skills, and meet lots of new and wonderful people in the process. There was no shortage in hours available, so
I was able to work quite a bit to offset some medical bills and travel
expenses. Jared was even able to help
out some friends with fixing up their house.
About a
month in I was able to travel to Maryland for my brother’s wedding, Jared’s
parents came to visit a few weeks later, and the last week before we returned
we were able to spend time in the mountains with most of my family. It has been a long time since so many of us
were together, and it was quite memorable.
Now, back
into the swing of ministry here in Budapest.
The semester is fast approaching.
Student arrivals begin in just five days!! We have some new additions to the office and
teaching staff. I’m looking forward to
getting to know them all. School starts
September third for the bible college and also for me. I will be taking a four-week language course.
I’m really excited and hopeful for
continued progress in my learning. It
will be three hours a day, five days a week, with homework of course.
Jared is
jumping right into semester preparation with updating the Moodle (our online
program for all of our classes), and getting staff up to date with how to do
everything they need to in regards to their own specific courses. I’m beginning to prepare my calendar filled
with Language school, being a TA for our missionary leadership course, prayer
times, and discipleship with the girls.
We will also be continuing with our coffee time and nerd herd gatherings
with the students at our apartment.
I was encouraged
by this verse in my reading the other day.
For the gifts and the
calling of God are irrevocable.
Romans 11:29
The beginning
of chapter ten talks about Israel’s rejection of God not being complete, nor
final, and then this verse is slapped on the end. The chapter then continues to explain that
just as God has shown the Romans that through their disobedience they were
shown mercy just as the Israelites were.
It reminds me of this verse in Luke.
“Therefore
I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven,
for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the
same loves little.”
Luke 7:47
It was just
a good reminder to follow Christ in the gifts and calling He has given us. Also in the context of being forgiving as we
have been forgiven much and experienced mercy through our disobedience. I pray that this would be my heart with the
students this semester. Thank you so
much to all of you for your prayers and support.
